JOAN MARTIN - DIRECTOR

Joan Martin, founder of Dance Arts
Center of McKinney & Lewisville, developed them into one of the finest dance
programs in the area. She danced professionally with her cousin Bill Miller on
television and in numerous shows throughout the southwest. Joan was a kind and
caring teacher and was loved by her many students and instructors. She was
tremendously proud of the students and instructors that form the "Joan Martin
Dancers" since 1953 in McKinney and 1974 in Lewisville.
LOUANN MARTIN VANCE -
DIRECTOR
LouAnn
is a talented dance instructor who loves working with children
as well as adults.
LouAnn
studied dance at the university of North Texas and the SMU Dance
Department. She has taken Master Dance classes taught by Buster
Cooper and has studied ballet under Jacqueline Forscher at the
Etgen-Atkinson School of Ballet.
LouAnn
believes that children are our most important assets. Parents
should expose them early to the arts and we at the DANCE ARTS
CENTER believe that each student should receive the best
training available at an affordable price.
PERRY MARTIN - DIRECTOR
After working
many years for General Electric Co. and owning his own delivery service he
retired to help run our dance schools. He especially enjoys helping with the
pre-schoolers. His kind heart and easy going manner earn him a special place
with the students, instructors and parents. He and LouAnn teach the Country
Western Couples Class. He was a devoted and loving husband to Joan for over 57
years.
KRIS ROSE
Kris
started her dance training with Joan at the age of 3 and started
her student assistant teaching at twelve with LouAnn. She has
grown into a highly qualified teacher and has a true love for
children. She received her degree from the University of
North Texas
in child development. She was also a member of the McKinney Marquettes, serving as captain her senior year.
SHANNON BOYETTE
Shannon
started her dance training with Joan at the age of 3 and has
been with the school every since. She received her degree in
education from Texas Woman’s’ University and is currently
teaching first grade in Anna Texas. She is a very popular
instructor with the kids at Dance Arts Center.
WENDY COMMONS
Wendy
started her dance training at the age of 2 and has loved taking
classes all her life. She excels in tap, ballet & Hip Hop. She
has progressed into a fine dance instructor. She received her
Masters Degree from Texas Woman’s University and is currently on
the faculty at Quad C. We are proud to have her.
NICOLE THOMPSON
Nicole
started her dance training at the age of 3 with us and we are
pleased to have her on our staff. She is excellent with
children and incorporates kindness and patience into her
teaching skills. She always has a smile on her face.
Cecily O'Bier
Cecily started
her dance training with Joan Martin at the age of 3. She began
her student teaching when she was fourteen. As a freshman in
high school, she was chosen to be a leader in Drill Team. She
loves the children and staff at Dance Arts Center and enjoys
working there. We are happy to have her with us.
ANNA
CORREA -
TEACHER ASSISTANT

Anna
is a very talented young lady who has studied dance with us for
eleven years. She excels in tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop. She
enjoys performing and is very popular with our students. She is
a graduate of Lake Dallas High School and plans to attend
college in the fall.
